The afghan girl, picture shot by National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry. Sharbat Gula was one of the students in an informal school within the refugee camp; McCurry, rarely given the opportunity to photograph Afghan women, seized the opportunity and captured her image. She was approximately 12 years old at the time. She made it on the cover of National Geographic next year, and her identity was discovered in 1992.
This picture is all around beautiful. I love her eyes, and how they have a slight glare on them. It's an in this moment picture, which is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI really like her eyes! Her eyes are the main focus! I like how the colors compliment each other. I think it's really cool how she isn't smiling and looks serious. With that look it adds to the fact that she is someone in a culture that doesn't expose faces that often.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is very different among others. I love the focus on her eyes. I also enjoy the the rareness of this photo with how it's almost impossible to get a picture of a women face without a vial over it.
ReplyDeleteSomething I like the most about this picture is the person eyes. I like the color of her eyes, and she as a blank face.
